Sorry we’ve been terrible about updating this thing. We recently put in some privacy bushes, I’ll add pictures later and keep you updated on their growth. Right now is flowering season for our peach trees and plums, Ill add photos of those later in the week as well, checking into Nikki’s instagram is the the best place to see updated pictures of the farm animals, plants and Neo (our dog). That’s instagram.com/nramchickenlady she posts there a lot so you’ll get regular updates. But we will try to add more posts here.

New Additions

Recently we have added pigs to our small farm, which is super exciting. This upcoming weekend we will be building a proper pig pen and getting that all ready so be prepared for that. We have a lot of great stuff happening as we continue to bear through winter. It has gotten cold here, with some temperatures dropping below 40, cold for Florida for sure. The two pigs we got are named Wilbur and Penelope and they’re from 2 different litters so we will try and mate them later on. They’re both between 4-7 weeks old and are super cute. We’re raising them for meat purposes so it’s going to be a whole new territory for us. Wish us luck and stay tuned to see all the neat stuff we got going on. Coming soon: We’re in the process of building gorgeous pallet rustic pallet walls, building a privacy fence, and much much more. Thanks for enjoying our content!

We are not very good at keeping up with this

I will work harder to post here. Welcome to our blog, my husband and I started this so we can kinda map our progress with permaculture and livestock keeping. So far we have 19 chickens, 4 of which happen to be roosters (they were supposed to be hens), 4 of them are babies and only about 2 months old, the rest are laying hens. We also have 2 muscovy ducks both females and they are quite fun to watch. We have several fruit trees on the property that have began fruiting already and this year it sadly doesn’t look like we will be adding more due to finances. I will include a picture of the chickens below for your viewing pleasure. Currently I’ve been saving up egg shells and coffee grounds to put in the compost and they get tossed in the bin, hopefully by this time next year we will have some super nutrient rich soil. We have done all the planting that needed to be done this season and we should have a lot more to get done come spring. I will try to keep you updated as much as possible. Coming in the future we plan to add pigs, rabbits and quail to our small farm. I will keep you up to date with that and we will be sure to add pictures.
